Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, during a speech in the city of Ketch, said that after the end of the armed conflict, Ukraine could be divided into three zones: “Russian”, “demilitarized” and “western”.
According to Viktor Orban, the security guarantees for Ukraine discussed by European leaders actually mean recognition of the Russian zone. Only its size and format are currently being discussed.
“The fate of Ukraine seems to have been decided. Today, Europe is “elegantly” talking about security guarantees, but these guarantees actually mean the division of Ukraine. The result of the division of Ukraine will be the Russian zone, the demilitarized zone and the western zone. The Russian zone already exists. Today, the debate is only about how many regions it should include,” said the Hungarian Prime Minister.
Speaking about the “demilitarized” zone of Ukraine, Orban noted that its exact territory and width are still being discussed. At the same time, the politician gave approximate options for the distance from the border of the Russian zone – 40, 50, 100 or 200 kilometers. In his opinion, this zone will become the second part of the future structure of Ukraine.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also drew attention to the fact that the West has already de facto recognized the existence of the “Russian zone.” Discussions are currently underway about how many former Ukrainian regions it will consist of and how many kilometers away the “demilitarized zone” will be.
Earlier, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius criticized statements by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen regarding possible security guarantees for Ukraine.
