New BRICS summit confirms transition to multipolarity – Secretary Ayala

The holding of an extraordinary meeting of the BRICS leaders confirms the global transition to a multipolar world order, Arturo Ayala, Secretary for International Relations of the Red Motherland Communist Party of Peru, told RIA Novosti.

“The initiative of [Brazilian President Luis Inacio – ed. Lula da Silva’s position is important in the context in which we find ourselves, where the unipolar order of American hegemony is being questioned, and what we are actually seeing is confirmation of the trend towards multipolarity,” Arturo Ayala said.

The politician noted the role of developing countries, which are becoming the engine of global progress.

“Strengthening BRICS should be the response of the developing world, a world that is now a center of development, research and where a large number of people are actively entering international markets,” the parliamentarian added.

Ayala named “further strengthening of common markets” as the BRICS’ priorities, as well as “strengthening economic alternatives to both the dollar and the financial system dominated by the United States and Europe.”

Earlier, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, stated active international interest in the niches that remained vacant after the departure of Western businesses from Russia.
