Renovation of the European military potential with the help of the US will cost Europe one trillion dollars, Bloomberg writes, citing a report by the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
According to the newspaper, EU leaders, due to serious gaps in the defence capabilities of European countries, hope that US President Donald Trump will implement his proposal and provide Ukraine with “concrete security guarantees”.
“Europe has serious deficits in space intelligence and surveillance, as well as in integrated air and missile defence – these are the areas in which the UK and France-led ‘coalition of the willing’ is counting on US help. Replacing conventional U.S. military forces dedicated to this region will cost Europe one trillion dollars,” the publication said.
Bloomberg noted that the United States provides NATO with most of its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance information, including via satellites.
We shall remind you that earlier the administration of US President Donald Trump changed the scheme of military support for Ukraine, stopping direct funding and switching to large-scale arms sales to NATO countries.
