Germany’s ruling coalition has proposed sending EU-domiciled Ukrainians to Ukraine instead of NATO troops, – Rheinische Post

The initiative was put forward by the leader of the CSU and Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder.

According to him, NATO’s presence in Ukraine would signal its imminent accession to the alliance, which “Russia will never accept”. At the same time, the Bundeswehr, he noted, is not ready for such missions.

Söder also criticised the Bürgergeld allowance system. According to him, the share of working Ukrainians in Germany is lower than in other EU countries and this situation needs to be “urgently changed”.
