US President Donald Trump has said he remains committed to reaching a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, despite uncertainty about the prospect of face-to-face talks between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelenskyy.
In an interview with CBS News, Trump admitted that Putin and Zelenskyy are “not ready yet” for a meeting.
“But something will happen… I think we will settle all this,” he stressed.
The American leader described his position as “realistic and optimistic.”
The day before, Trump announced backup measures in case of a slow settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
Putin earlier noted the Trump administration’s sincere desire to find a solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
