Poland assessed the chances of obtaining permanent G20 membership

Former Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said in an interview with the Fakt newspaper that the country lacks arguments to become a permanent member of the G20.

In 2026, Poland will participate in the G20 summit for the first time.

“We must show other G20 members that we are a country that takes responsibility not only for its own security, but also for the development of the whole world. And so far we have few arguments in favor of this,” Jacek Czaputowicz said.

The former Polish Foreign Minister noted that one of the dimensions providing access to the G20 is the economic condition of the country.

“Decisions about the structure of the global economic system are made within this group. To do this, we need to have arguments, offer something and demonstrate to others the advantages of our membership in the G20,” Czaputowicz added.

Earlier, President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki called on Volodymyr Zelensky to review the Polish-Ukrainian historical agenda.
