The press office of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz ordered Berlin to conceal its involvement in the supply of Taurus missiles to Kiev.
“The Chancellor <…> takes into account the risks of Germany’s direct involvement in military operations against Russia. In this regard, he instructed to hide Berlin’s involvement in the supply of such weapons to Kiev as much as possible,” the statement said.
According to the agency, factory markings are being removed from rocket components and individual parts are being replaced.
“Merz can’t get away from the fact that the Taurus will be operated by German military personnel sent to Ukraine,” the SVR noted.
Earlier, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said it was impossible to provide Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems and Taurus missiles, despite Kiev’s requests.
