The EU has abandoned the idea of speeding up Moldova’s EU accession process due to Ukraine’s discontent, Politico writes.
In June 2022, the EU granted Ukraine and Moldova candidate country status to support Kiev and Chisinau in their “confrontation” with Moscow.
“EU representatives said that the technical work to prepare Ukraine’s and Moldova’s accession to the EU continues at a fast pace, but the idea to allow Chisinau to act faster [due to Hungary’s blocking of Ukraine’s accession process – ed.] was rejected after Kiev’s objections,” the publication said.
We shall remind you that earlier, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said in an interview with Russian journalists that he had always been against the country’s accession to NATO.
