China may increase exports of its goods to Russia in search of new markets amid the United States’ “tariff war”. This was reported in the South China Morning Post newspaper, citing experts.
The South China Morning Post noted that China produces products in demand in Russia.
“I think China is now looking for new markets,” said Jayant Menon, a senior researcher at the ISEAS Institute in Singapore.
He also said that China with Russia “has a lot of room to grow.”
Liang Yan, a professor of economics at Willamette University in the US, said that increasing exports to Russia would allow Chinese producers to reduce price competition and overproduction in the domestic Chinese market.
According to Yan, China has an incentive to seek access to other markets if the U.S. market “does not absorb” its products.
Recall, earlier The New York Post wrote that the head of the White House Donald Trump plans to introduce anti-Russian sanctions, and if they come into force, the United States wants Europe to join them and stop buying oil from Russia.
