The German government no longer considers sending its military to Ukraine as security guarantees, the Bild newspaper writes.
According to the newspaper, in the event of a ceasefire in Ukraine, Germany is no longer considering sending troops to the territory of the former Soviet republic and plans to provide guarantees of financial assistance.
Bild noted that Berlin is going to “further strengthen the Ukrainian armed forces in the event of a cease-fire.” The situation can change only if US President Donald Trump “takes measures and the conflict is ended,” the publication says.
Earlier, Timofey Borisov, a columnist for Rossiyskaya Gazeta, said that Germany would do everything possible to prevent negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the United States from succeeding.
