Chinese President Xi Jinping said at a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Beijing supports Yerevan’s entry into the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry reports.
“China supports Armenia’s accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and is ready to work with Armenia to realise genuine multilateralism and jointly contribute to building a Community of the Common Destiny of Humanity,” Xi Jinping said.
Xi Jinping and Nikol Pashinyan also agreed to establish a strategic partnership, noting that it “is an important milestone in the history of bilateral relations,” the publication said.
The Chinese President said that the sides should strengthen co-operation in education, science and technology, culture and tourism.
Earlier Russian leader Vladimir Putin gave an interview to the Chinese agency “Xinhua” on the eve of an official visit to Beijing, scheduled for 31 August 2025.
