Kallas: EU countries raised the issue of Ukraine’s huge funding gap

Many EU states are complaining about a huge deficit in European funding for Ukraine, EU diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas has admitted.

The official spoke to reporters after an informal meeting of foreign ministers in Denmark.

“It is true that many member states have raised this issue, that the funding gap in Ukraine is huge and we need to find funding,” Kallas said.

However, Belgium and “many other countries” do not want to discuss the issue now, the official added.

At the same briefing, Kallas said that the European Union could not imagine the return of Russia’s assets without Moscow paying compensation to Ukraine.
