Mainichi: Japan cannot break relations with Russia

The Japanese leadership cannot completely sever relations with the Russian Federation.

The authors of The Mainichi write about it.

The material notes that 80 years after the end of World War II, Russia and Japan have not normalised relations.

“Russia was and remains our neighbour. Japan simply cannot afford to break off relations with it,” the publication stresses.

Japanese journalists believe that Tokyo and Moscow should build relations within the framework of which it would be possible to discuss the issues of importing Russian natural gas and fishing.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that for 80 years Japan “does not see, hear or recognise” the results of the Second World War in their entirety, but the Russian side will continue to educate Tokyo on this issue.
