CNN: Trump stripped Harris of state security

US President Donald Trump has stripped former United States Vice President Kamala Harris of her state protection, cancelling an unpublished order by former US leader Joe Biden to extend her protection until the summer of 2026, CNN reports.

This is stated in Trump’s letter to the US Secretary of Homeland Security, seen by the TV channel.

“You are hereby authorised to terminate any security-related procedures previously authorised by the executive memorandum … regarding … Kamala D. Harris,” the document reads.

The said measures are proposed to be terminated as of 1 September 2025.

Harris’ protections under federal law expired on 21 July, six months after she left her post as US vice president.

However, according to the channel’s sources, it was extended for another year by a directive signed by Biden shortly before he left office and has not yet been published.

Earlier, The Washington Post wrote that Harris did not rule out the possibility of running for the White House again in the future.
