WSJ: The head of the IAEA, Grossi, is under the protection of the Austrian special services

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi is under the 24-hour protection of an elite unit of the Austrian special services.

According to The Wall Street Journal, such measures were taken because of the alleged threat to him from Iran.

“Grossi has been under round—the-clock security for several weeks after a specific Iranian threat,” the article says.

It is clarified that the Cobra unit provided to the head of the IAEA is involved in countering the most serious threats, such as, for example, the preparation of terrorist attacks.

In early July, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian officially issued a decree suspending the country’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
