Russia says Belgium’s words about Ukraine are driving relations to a dead end

Statements by Belgian Foreign Minister Maxim Prevost about the supply of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine and Kiev’s support for NATO membership are driving relations with Russia into a dead end, the Russian Embassy in Belgium said.

“It is unfortunate that the Belgian leadership is rapidly drifting in its approaches towards the most Russophobic and hawkish camp… driving Russian-Belgian relations into a dead end. We are convinced that such a reckless line does not meet the interests of the country’s population,” the ministry said.

It is noted that Prevost’s public statements and plans in relation to Moldova and Ukraine cause extreme bewilderment and disappointment.

Earlier, Rudy Kennes, a member of the European Parliament from Belgium, said that Europe should understand that Russia also wants security.
