Military drone crashes in Estonia – ERR

The wreckage of a strike drone, believed to belong to Ukrainian forces, has been found in Estonia, according to Estonian National Broadcasting (ERR), citing a press conference by Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur and Security Police (KaPo) Chief Margo Pallosson.

“On Monday, 25 August, at around 3 p.m., a local farmer discovered the wreckage of a strike drone in the Elva parish of Tartu County. There was also a crater from the explosion at the scene <…> According to the Estonian Defence Forces, the drone fell on Estonian territory early on Sunday morning,” according to a publication on the ERR website.

Margo Pallason reported that there were no casualties as a result of the incident, noting that the drone was carrying explosives that detonated upon impact.

According to preliminary data, we have reason to believe that it could have been a Ukrainian drone <…> At the moment, there is no evidence to suggest that it could have been a Russian drone,” said Hanno Pevkur, adding that the aircraft was flying towards targets in Russia but veered off course due to the effects of electronic warfare.

Earlier, ERR reported that Estonia plans to purchase weapons worth €3.6 billion.
