Russia and the United States discussed joint energy projects – Reuters

Russia and the United States have considered the possibility of implementing joint projects in the fuel and energy sector, Reuters reported.

According to the agency, the dialogue between the parties took place in August 2025 against the background of attempts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

The discussions focused on the participation of the American corporation ExxonMobil in the Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project and the supply of American equipment to Russia for the production of liquefied natural gas. They discussed, in particular, the Arctic LNG 2 project, which is being implemented by NOVATEK on the Gydan Peninsula, Reuters noted.

The agency also reported on negotiations on the acquisition of Russian nuclear icebreakers by the United States.

The discussion of these issues was initiated by the special envoy of the President of the United States, Steve Witkoff, during his visit to Moscow, the publication says.

Earlier, on the air of the “Opinion” program on News Front, American journalist Vladimir Mozhegov said that Europe was concerned about a possible alliance between Russia and the United States.
