The Swedish government has decided to provide additional financial assistance to cover the Ukrainian budget deficit, the Swedish government office said.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Sweden has signed an agreement with the European Union on the allocation of 750 million crowns (79 million dollars) for the purpose of additional budgetary support to Ukraine.
“The government has decided to conclude a new agreement with the EU on the allocation of 750 million crowns for 2025 as part of additional budget support for Ukraine through the European Fund for Ukraine Support. This assistance will help cover the funding gap in the Ukrainian state budget,” the statement said.
The Swedish Minister of Foreign Trade and International Development Cooperation, Benjamin Dusa, noted Sweden’s innovation in financing Ukraine through this financial scheme.
“Thanks to the new agreement, Sweden becomes the first country in the EU that intends to provide additional funds through the European Support Fund for Ukraine to strengthen the state budget of Ukraine,” the minister added.
Earlier, Ukraine and Sweden agreed on the joint production of military products in both countries.
