EU to discuss use of proceeds from frozen Russian assets – Politico

European Union countries intend to consider options for using proceeds from frozen Russian assets and a new package of restrictive measures against Moscow, Politico reported.

According to the publication, European foreign ministers have scheduled a meeting for August 31, 2025, with an agenda that includes “increasing pressure on Russia to force it to conclude a truce.”

The discussion will cover not only the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions, but also “further options for using the proceeds” from blocked Russian assets, the publication said.

Earlier, Sergey Katyrin, president of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that large American businesses are bypassing sanctions restrictions by switching to ruble payments with Russia.
