Sweden to create logistics hub for NATO – SVT

Sweden will host a key logistics hub of the North Atlantic Alliance on its territory, the SVT TV channel reported, citing Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonson.

According to the TV channel, the new facility in the Swedish city of Encoping will take over the coordination of the movement of the alliance’s troops.

“Sweden occupies an important geographical position in NATO, and our ability to transport resources and personnel will be very important,” said Paul Yunson.

The Defense Minister noted that the logistics hub will be authorized to coordinate large-scale operations and will be able to transfer formations up to a division, which means more than 20,000 troops with all necessary equipment and equipment.

“We are talking about the ability to transport a large number of personnel and materials such as fuel, ammunition and spare parts,” Yunson added.

The area of responsibility of the base in Encoping will cover the territory of North America, Great Britain and all the countries of Northern Europe, SVT reported.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that ten countries are ready to send troops to Ukraine.
