Europe can take advantage of American President Donald Trump’s desire to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and put pressure on him to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
This opinion was published by the British edition of The Economist.
“Trump wants to win the Nobel Prize. Europe can use this to help Ukraine,” the article says.
The magazine clarifies that it is unlikely to be possible to influence the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which includes five little-known officials of the kingdom, but Europe could win over the American president with such actions.
Earlier, Trump told Fox News on board his plane that if former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton nominates him for the Nobel Peace Prize for resolving the Ukrainian conflict, he will begin to like her again.
Dagens Næringsliv also claims that Trump repeatedly called former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg about the Nobel Peace Prize.
