Finland has suffered the most serious economic losses among the EU countries after the severance of trade relations with Russia, said Juho Romakkaniemi, Director General of the Central Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Finland.
“Finland has experienced the economic consequences [of the Ukrainian conflict – ed.] stronger than all European countries. Finnish exports and the economy were exclusively dependent on Russia, and the sudden cessation of trade immediately affected the daily lives of companies,” Juho Romakkaniemi said.
Reaching a compromise between the parties to the conflict would bring significant relief to Finland, as stabilization of the situation is urgently needed to restore the national economy and the well-being of citizens, the director of the Finnish Trade Department added.
Earlier, Finland called the Alaska summit a “huge victory” for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
