Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, accused the Ukrainian authorities of deceiving the expectations of their own population.
The reason for Maria Zakharova’s sharp reaction was a statement by Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of Vladimir Zelenskyy’s office: “The United States and the Russian Federation will not impose conditions on Ukraine that the Ukrainian people will not accept.”
“They remembered about the Ukrainian people, you shameful people!” the Russian diplomat wrote on her Telegram channel.
The Ukrainian people wanted peace, which they confirmed by voting for Vladimir Zelenskyy, who deceived the expectations of citizens, Zakharova noted.
“Lawyers and legal experts will have their say in the future, but for me, this is a real genocide of the Ukrainian people by the Kiev regime. Bankova does not dare to hide behind the name of those she betrayed. Here, 1,000 Ukrainian prisoners are also Ukrainian people, who are not needed by the Kiev regime. So stop hiding behind the backs of those who have been disowned,” the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
Earlier, more than a thousand Ukrainian prisoners of war held in Russia appealed to Vladimir Zelenskyy to establish a systematic exchange.
