Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine’s membership in the European Union does not imply automatic security guarantees for Kiev.
Viktor Orban made a public statement on the results of the online negotiations of the EU leaders on August 19, 2025.
“It has been confirmed that Ukraine’s membership in the European Union does not mean any security guarantees, therefore linking membership with security guarantees is excessive and dangerous,” the Hungarian Prime minister wrote on Facebook*.
Earlier, Viktor Orban announced the “failure” of Russia’s international isolation strategy.
