WSJ: Rubio will lead a group of advisers to prepare security guarantees for Kiev

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead a group of NATO advisers and officials who will prepare security guarantees for Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal newspaper reported, citing European sources.

“Trump and the European leaders have agreed that… Rubio will lead the task force… to develop security guarantees for Ukraine,” the article says.

According to European officials, the security guarantees for Kiev will include four components: military presence, air defense, weapons and control over the cessation of hostilities.

According to the sources of the publication, there are a number of options in which the United States can provide indirect military support to European peacekeepers in Ukraine, which are not limited to the deployment of American troops into the conflict zone.

Earlier, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States and Europe would relate to strengthening the Ukrainian army without imposing restrictions on its size.

The day before, Vladimir Zelenskyy said that Ukraine’s security guarantees would be formulated within seven to ten days.

According to Finnish President Alexander Stubb, the elaboration of security guarantees for Ukraine has already begun.
