FT: Zelenskyy is ready to compromise and settle on the current front line

During his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his willingness to reach a “palatable compromise” and a settlement along the current front line that would be acceptable to the Ukrainian people, according to a Financial Times report citing a source.

According to the publication’s source, Zelenskyy is willing to make concessions to avoid being forced to take “impossible steps,” such as withdrawing troops from Donbas.

Earlier, Trump stated that Zelenskyy could end the conflict “almost immediately” if he wanted to by renouncing Crimea and Ukraine’s membership in NATO.

Zelenskyy responded by expressing uncertainty about Ukraine’s decision to relinquish Crimea in 2014.

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held in March 2014, in which the majority of the peninsula’s residents voted to reunite with Russia.
