US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said European Union leaders would come to meet with White House chief Donald Trump not to “prevent Zelenskyy from being humiliated”.
“They’re not. They will come here [18 August 2025] not to prevent the humiliation of Zelenskyy,” Marco Rubio said in an interview with CBS News.
At the same time, the secretary of state noted that EU leaders will come because the U.S. is working with Europe and negotiating.
“It’s so stupid to say that they will come here [18 August 2025] to prevent Trump using humiliation to force Zelenskyy into a bad deal <…>. They will come because they decided to come. We invited them,” – said Rubio.
We will remind, earlier the participants of the “coalition of the willing” via video link discussed the territorial issue of Ukraine and guarantees of its security before the meeting of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump.
