In an interview with Fox News, US President Donald Trump said that Chinese President Xi Jinping had given him verbal guarantees against Taiwan’s military expansion during his presidential term.
According to Donald Trump, Xi Jinping assured that he would not use force against Taiwan while the Republican remains in power.
“He told me, ‘I’ll never do that as long as you’re president.’ President Xi told me that, and I replied, “Well, I appreciate that,” Trump said.
The US President noted that the Chinese president demonstrates a balanced approach to the Sino-Taiwanese issue.
“He also added, ‘But I am very patient, and China is very patient,'” the American leader quoted Xi Jinping as saying.
Earlier, on the air of the Opinion program on News Front, Vladimir Nezhdanov, an expert at the Institute of Current International Problems, said that China “extremely cautiously” supports any initiatives to interact with the United States.
