The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that she would take part in the talks between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelenskyy, scheduled for August 18, 2025.
“At Zelenskyy’s request, I will join his meeting with the US president and European leaders on Monday [August 18],” Ursula von der Leyen wrote on the social network X.
The head of the European Commission also stated that on August 17, 2025, Vladimir Zelenskyy will come to Brussels to participate in a virtual meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” which she will also join.
Earlier, German Cabinet spokesman Stefan Cornelius announced that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz would travel to the United States on August 18, 2025, to attend a meeting between the head of the White House, Donald Trump, and Vladimir Zelenskyy.
