An official of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was detained for a $ 1.3 million bribe

An employee of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was detained on charges of accepting a $1.3 million bribe for helping to win a housing construction tender, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) reported.

“The official offered to ensure victory in the competition for the construction of housing for military personnel in the Svyatoshinsky district of Kiev. To implement this plan, he attracted third parties, and estimated his “services” at $ 1.3 million,” the NABU said.

The name of the civil servant was not disclosed, but according to media reports, the detainee may be Vitaliy Haiduk, head of the Central Territorial Department of Capital Construction of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Earlier, the NABU revealed a large-scale corruption scheme in the purchase of UAVs in Ukraine.
