British officials have recommended that European Union leaders stop making “empty comments” about the upcoming talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump, scheduled for August 15, 2025, in Alaska. This was reported by The Telegraph.
“British officials have called on EU leaders to stop the ‘unhelpful public polemics’ ahead of peace talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin,” the article says.
The Telegraph noted that London fears that making public demands for negotiations could “anger Trump” and lead to Europe’s exclusion from the Ukrainian settlement.
Earlier, NBC News reported that Donald Trump and US Vice President J.D. Vance would hold a telephone conversation with the leaders of the European Union and Volodymyr Zelenskyy on August 13, 2025.
