Australia will recognize Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in an interview with 9News that the country will recognize Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September 2025.

“Today, I can confirm that at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September, Australia will recognize the State of Palestine,” said Anthony Albanese.

The Australian Prime Minister noted that the two-state solution is “the best hope for humanity to break the cycle of violence in the Middle East and end the conflict, suffering, and hunger in Gaza.”

According to Albanese, the recognition of Palestine will signify a commitment to the people of Israel and their right to “live in freedom, security, and tranquility.”

“As long as Palestinian statehood is not permanent, peace can only be temporary,” the Australian Prime Minister said.

Recall, earlier, foreign ministers of 15 countries supported the consideration of the possibility of recognition of Palestine.
