Brazil, the largest buyer of Russian diesel, is facing the risk of imposing US duties due to trade with Moscow, the Financial Times (FT) reported.
The Brazilian authorities, analyzing the similar experience of India, are concerned about possible restrictions from the United States due to trade with Russia, writes FT.
“The latest sanctions against India confirm what can happen to Brazil,” said Brazilian Senator Carlos Viala, who is involved in trade negotiations with the United States.
According to the senator, Brazil depends on the supply of diesel fuel and fertilizers, which Russia ships in large quantities.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump increased US trade duties on India due to the latter’s trade turnover with Russia.
