In an interview with Bloomberg, U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that European allies of the United States will purchase not only defense systems for Ukraine, but also artillery shells, bullets, and other ammunition.
He also noted that Washington intends to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the necessary weapons for use on the battlefield as part of European purchases.
Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the United States and NATO will provide Ukraine with weapons through voluntary contributions from the alliance’s countries.
Meanwhile, Whitaker expressed the opinion that Washington’s supply of weapons to NATO partners would encourage Russia to negotiate and achieve a lasting ceasefire in Ukraine.
