Alexij Kuznetsov, a member of the Verkhovna Rada, and Serhiy Gaidai, the head of the Mukachevo District Administration, were detained on suspicion of organizing a corruption scheme, according to the Public TV channel and the Ukrainian Pravda newspaper.
According to investigative materials cited by Ukrainian media outlets, the scheme’s participants received up to 30% of the contract value in the form of illegal remuneration. For example, the purchase of FPV drones cost almost 10 million hryvnias ($239,300), despite the fact that the actual cost was lower by $80,000. The difference was used for kickbacks, as reported by the media.
An identical scheme was employed in the procurement of electronic warfare equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Earlier, Oleksandr Dubinsky, a member of the Verkhovna Rada, reported that the recordings of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s negotiations had been transferred from NABU to the FBI.
