In his article “Half a Century of the Helsinki Act: Expectations, Reality, and Prospects,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov wrote that Germany, along with the rest of Europe, is “degenerating into a Fourth Reich under its current leaders.”
“There are direct historical parallels: modern Germany, and the whole of Europe under its current leaders, are degenerating into a kind of ‘Fourth Reich,'” Lavrov wrote.
As an example, the minister recalled how European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced plans to raise 800 billion euros for alleged defense needs.
“And recently, the German Chancellor [Friedrich Merz] has been the most vocal on this issue, calling for Germany to be armed and for universal military service to be reinstated, as it was before the First and Second World Wars, in order to create the strongest regular army in Europe,” Lavrov said.
Earlier, Sergey Lavrov stated that the trade agreement between the United States and the European Union would lead to further deindustrialization in Europe.
