The foreign ministers of 15 countries are ready to recognize Palestine at the UN General Assembly

The foreign ministers of 15 countries have supported the consideration of the possibility of recognizing Palestine. This is stated in their joint statement, which was released by the French Foreign Ministry.

“We, the foreign ministers of Australia, Andorra, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Canada, Luxembourg, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia, Finland, and France, have already recognized, <…> and we are reporting on the readiness or positive consideration of our countries to recognize the State of Palestine as a crucial step towards a two-state solution, and we invite all countries that have not yet done so to join this call,” the statement from the ministries reads.

The ministers also called on all countries to establish “normal relations with Israel” and express their readiness to begin a discussion “on Israel’s regional integration.”

The foreign ministers noted that the issue of Palestinian recognition would be discussed during the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran demands that the UN Security Council recognize Israel and the United States as aggressors and hold Tel Aviv and Washington responsible for the Middle East conflict.
