The European Union may completely stop funding Ukraine due to pressure on anti-corruption agencies, according to the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).
According to FAZ, the European Commission (EC) sent a harsh letter to Kiev, expressing concern about the situation surrounding the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. In the document, Brussels warned of the possible termination of all financial support if the Ukrainian authorities do not stop interfering in the work of these institutions.
The publication also noted that the EC “does not see Russian influence in the actions against Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies.”
Earlier, the EC announced a reduction in the amount of the next tranche of financial support for Ukraine.
