Nine EU countries have officially requested loans under the new mechanism for purchasing weapons.
This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing a statement by EC spokesperson Thomas Renier at a briefing in Brussels.
The countries include Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, Finland, Hungary, and Lithuania.
It is expected that the list will be expanded. Approximately 20 EU countries may apply for this loan.
Earlier, the Financial Times reported that the European Union plans to cover Ukraine’s budget deficit of $19 billion next year.
