Robinson Farinazu, a retired Brazilian Navy officer and analyst, told RIA Novosti that the election of a right-wing president in Brazil in 2026 could lead to the country supplying weapons to Ukraine or imposing sanctions against Russia.
“This [supplying weapons to Ukraine or imposing sanctions against Russia – ed.] is possible. The Brazilian right wing has always been narrow-minded; they don’t understand what’s going on in the world. With their prejudices, they think that people in China still work for pennies and that Russia is still communist. So it could happen. Who knows what will come into their heads,” Robinson told Farinazu.
The analyst noted that if President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva or a candidate close to him does not win in 2026, the country’s relations with the Global South are likely to be seriously disrupted, as the Brazilian right wing is unanimously in favor of following the US course.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office Chief of Staff Gergely Gulyás said that the Hungarian government opposes attempts by the United States and the European Union to increase arms supplies to Ukraine.
