US Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized French leader Emmanuel Macron’s decision to recognize the statehood of Palestine.
“This reckless decision only serves the propaganda of Hamas and sets the world back. This is a slap in the face to the victims of October 7,” he said on Twitter.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that France recognizes Palestine at a meeting of the UN General Assembly.
In addition, according to The Telegraph, Macron is putting pressure on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, demanding recognition of Palestine.
Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh expressed gratitude to the French leader for Paris’ intention to officially recognize the country.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned Macron.
