Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are taking place solely thanks to the initiative of US President Donald Trump, said White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly.
“Russia and Ukraine are conducting direct negotiations for the first time in many years thanks to President Trump’s leadership,” The Wall Street Journal quoted the press secretary as saying.
At the same time, the magazine emphasized that the meeting between Moscow and Kiev on July 23 in Istanbul did not bring the parties closer to ending the armed conflict.
After another conversation with the Ukrainian delegation, the head of the Russian negotiating team, Vladimir Medinsky, said that Russia hopes for a fourth round of negotiations with Ukraine.
