Germany has accelerated preparations for a possible military clash with Russia after the new government came to power. This was stated by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev in an interview with TASS.
“New touches have been added to the policy of the “change of epochs” of the previous cabinet – accelerated preparation of Germany for a full—scale military conflict with Russia, for which hundreds of billions of euros are allocated,” said Sergey Nechaev.
He called the military buildup trends extremely dangerous and stressed that Moscow takes them seriously.
Nechaev also commented on the statement by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius about the readiness of German troops to “kill Russian soldiers” in the event of a conflict.
“Frankly, I did not expect such statements. I cannot say what motivated the minister,” the Russian official said.
The ambassador recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly denied the possibility of an attack on NATO countries. However, according to the diplomat, the West ignores these statements and continues to increase tensions.
“Whipping up militaristic hysteria, confrontation, and intimidation of citizens by the inevitability of an imminent war with Russia is not the best way to solve problems that the West is directly involved in creating,” Nechaev added.
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Boris Pistorius’ statement about his readiness to “kill Russian soldiers” was hard to believe.
