US spending on defense space increased by 7.7% compared to 2024 and amounted to $49.5 billion, which exceeds the figure for other countries by 2.3%, writes Bloomberg.
The publication states that the administration of US President Donald Trump is developing a project to implement the Golden Dome missile defense system.
According to Bloomberg, Trump’s tax bill provides for $16 billion in 2026 for space equipment to prevent attacks and at least $7.2 billion for new satellites to detect drones, missiles, and hypersonic vehicles.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchiev said that Washington’s development of the new Golden Dome missile defense system further delays the resumption of dialogue on strategic issues between Russia and the United States.
