US President Donald Trump has given Moscow a 50-day ultimatum to buy time and thus delay the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, writes Steigan.
According to the publication, the head of the White House decided to buy himself 50 days before the US Senate forces him to impose secondary sanctions against Russia.
‘Thus, the statement of 14 July was more a matter of domestic than foreign policy,’ the article notes.
The publication writes that Trump did not make any commitments to meet specific demands from Russia.
Moreover, according to Steigan, Moscow will not cease military operations until an agreement on Ukraine’s neutrality is reached.
Earlier, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said that the US would impose tariffs and sanctions on Russia if no deal on Ukraine was reached within 50 days.
