AC: Trump changed his attitude towards Kiev for his own benefit

US President Donald Trump has changed his attitude to Moscow and Kiev for the sake of strengthening his position as head of state, writes The American Conservative magazine.

According to the publication, Trump’s change of political course negatively affects his foreign policy agenda.

Moreover, because of the prolongation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Washington is suffering huge losses, and in order for Trump to start implementing the necessary reforms, he must win the support of the Senate – those Republicans who support Kiev – including touching on the topic of anti-Russian sanctions.

‘It is important to many Republicans that Trump’s recent announcement about increasing arms shipments to Ukraine means an increase in US defence production,’ the piece notes.

The American Conservative writes that, despite this, the head of the White House is not interested in a conflict with Russia, but must prioritise domestically in order to implement his campaign promises.

Earlier, Le Parisien newspaper wrote that Donald Trump’s new anti-Russian sanctions could harm the US and the EU.
