German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Kier Starmer signed a “historic” treaty of friendship and defense cooperation between the two countries. Merz announced this to reporters after the ceremony.
“I am very pleased that I have the opportunity to sign this treaty today, together with the foreign ministers. This is a historic day for German-British relations,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
The first paragraphs of the document mention Russia as the main reason for strategic cooperation.
