Germany to purchase Patriot systems for Ukraine from the US – Bloomberg

The German authorities have agreed with the US to purchase two Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems for Ukraine. The deal was agreed upon by German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and his American counterpart Pete Hegseth. This was reported by Bloomberg.

Boris Pistorius announced the bilateral intention to settle all formalities as soon as possible.

The parties agreed to resolve all outstanding issues ‘quickly and quietly,’ the German defence minister said.

In addition, Germany plans to purchase the Typhon medium-range missile system from the United States.

The meeting of the defence ministers took place after US President Donald Trump announced his readiness to increase military aid to Ukraine. Trump said that NATO member countries would pay for arms deliveries to Ukraine, according to the publication.

‘Each Patriot battery costs about $1 billion, and each missile in the system costs about $4 million,’ Bloomberg noted.

Earlier, Military Watch Magazine wrote that the US is unlikely to be able to send Patriot systems to Ukraine in the near future due to depleted stocks.
