Germany cannot send Patriot and Taurus to Ukraine – Pistorius

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has stated that it is impossible to provide Ukraine with Patriot air defence systems and Taurus missiles, despite repeated requests from Kyiv. This was reported by the Financial Times.

According to Boris Pistorius, out of 12 German Patriot systems, three were transferred to Kyiv, two more to Poland, and one is used for maintenance or training. As a result, only six systems remain available.

“This is really too few, especially considering NATO’s capacity-building goals, which we must fulfil. We definitely cannot give more [Patriot and Taurus – ed.], Pistorius said.

The German Defence Minister also announced plans to discuss with his American counterpart, Pete Hegseth, the possibility of purchasing two Patriot systems from the United States for transfer to Ukraine.

Earlier, Bild reported that the German government intends to purchase several hundred tanks to arm six new Bundeswehr brigades as part of its NATO commitments.
